JEAN-MARIE PÉRIER Couturier of French Photography
|
|
AT THE LUMIERE BROTHERS CENTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHY IN MOSCOW.
Sept. 21st - Dec. 3rd
The exhibition of photographs exemplifies the amazing attention the artist shows to detail. Périer displays the meticulous eye of a couturier while forming every image and creating an ingenious portraiture collection. More than forty works by the auteur will be presented at the exhibition, many considered to be the iconic images of the era.
The exhibition includes legendary photographs of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the first years of their explosive rise in popularity.
In 1966 Jean-Marie had been asked to create images for the Beatles album covers and one of them, the famous photograph for the singles Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever, is included to the exhibition.

AT THE LITTLE BLACK GALLERY IN LONDON
Sept 14th - Oct. 14th
One of France’s best known photographers, this is Perier’s first exhibition in London with the series DESIGNERS – presenting icons of the fashion industry: Yves Saint-Laurent, Valentino, Karl Lagerfeld, Naomi Campbell, Sonia Rykiel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Vivienne Westwood, Galliano, Monica Bellucci, Stella McCartney, and Alaïa.
From 1962 to 1974 he was the official photographer of Les Copains, the world’s leading music magazine. In 1990, Périer returned home to Paris, having spent ten years in USA directing commercials for the likes of Coca-Cola, Canada Dry, Ford and Nestlé, wanting to return to his love of photography. ELLE magazine then gave him carte blanche to produce a series of images that would be called The World of Fashion Designers.

A LOOK BACK AT PHOTOFAIRS SHANGHAI
|
|
On September 10th Photo12 Galerie concluded a highly successful presentation at the 4th edition of PHOTOFAIRS Shanghai. Renowned Italian photographer Giovanni Gastel was the smash of the show, with prints from his original Polaroid Oro series going to collectors alongside his surreal fashion inspired works. Dutch photographer Marie Cécile Thijs’s Food Portraits and works by the upcoming young French photographer Didier Fournet were quickly picked up as well, while German photographer Andreas Mahl captivated visitors.
Having participated since the fair’s inaugural year and opening a third location in Shanghai this past May, this year’s presentation marked Photo12 Galerie’s continued commitment to fostering cultural dialogue between the East and West through the image. Deeply inspired by collectors’ passionate reception of contemporary photography in China, Photo12 Galerie warmly looks forward to returning next year.

DANIEL ARON Tangier Simple Interiors |
|
Daniel Aron sought to photograph the history of Tangier as he experienced it. Faced with a city deserted little by little and eventually abandoned by its inhabitants, a new population has reappropriated the empty houses of what used to be known as “Medina" very quickly in the hope of in turn immigrating to Europe. Some are just passing by, others settle in an interim that lasts, incessantly fluctuating between the hope of leaving and resignation to the idea of staying.
Under the objective gaze of the photographer, beauty arises in ordinary decor and light in the simplicity of the arrangements, such as a family gathered on a sofa, lit by the flame of a gas cylinder. The inhabitants’ spiritual interiority arises from the material elements of their surroundings.
