Galerie XII Los Angeles is pleased to welcome the arrival of winter months with a forthcoming group exhibition of works emphasizing the unique visual drama of the season. Photographers included span a wide array of age, origin and style, each with their own unique exploration of snowbound landscapes: Sebastian Copeland, Kacper Kowalski, Wenlong Ye, Nicolas Baghir, Jeffrey Conley and Byung-Hun Min.
An artist's reception with exhibiting photographer and renowned polar explorer Sebastian Copeland will be held on the evening of December 5th, from 6:30 - 8:30 pm.
Ranging from pure abstraction to diffused pictorialism, the artists on view have each ventured into often inhospitable circumstances to capture the beauty of nature in its frigid dormancy. Sebastian Copeland’s silent, floating sentinels and Kacper Kowalski’s aerial still-lives raise concerns of climate change and humanity’s role through visually seductive compositions. American landscape master Jeffrey Conley and rising Chinese photographer Wenlong Ye each use monochromatic processes to isolate the graphic elements present during and after a heavy snowfall, while Korean artist Byung-Hun Min’s ice-encapsulated grasses along with Baghir’s painterly, rural scenes, provide contemplative respite from the storm.
